Parents Tell All: I Used A Surrogate To Have My Baby
Thanks to advances in medical technology, parents now have different options for having a child outside of normal pregnancy. Perhaps the most notable is the process of surrogacy. Through a technique called “in vitro fertilization” (IVF), a woman’s egg is fertilized using the father’s sperm, which is then carried by a surrogate mother until birth. There are many reasons why parents opt for surrogacy over normal pregnancy. Perhaps the mother is infertile or has other health issues, or maybe nine months of carrying a child isn’t feasible for her due to professional reasons. As you’ll read in the following Whispers, deciding to use a surrogate isn’t always an easy choice to make. While some parents might see it as a godsend, it can leave others with an array of conflicting emotions.

Sounds like a win-win situation.

My husband and I are using a surrogate because I don't want to damage my body during pregnancy because of my job. I don't see a problem with it. It's a win for everyone involved.
My husband and I are using a surrogate. Pregnancy weirds me out and I don't want stretch marks. I don't think there's anything wrong with our decision.

A successful birth is definitely worth celebrating!

My husband and I had a surrogate mother carry our child. My dad high-dived me after she was born and said good job.

Thanks, but... I didn't do anything? I kept the high-five though.
My sister was once my surrogate and at 6 months pregnant she changed her mind and in my state I had no legal rights to it. Now I have a family reunion coming up and have to see my son/nephew.

Friends who offer to be surrogates are the best. :)

My boyfriend and I are in a gay relationship. We never really thought about having kids until a shared friend offered to be our surrogate mother. We're going to have a kid as soon as I graduate. :)
I can't have a baby because I have cervical pre cancer so my husband and I are using a surrogate... it makes me feel like less of a woman, but I want a family.
