Underweight Teens Reveal The Hurtful Comments Their Parents Made About Their Bodies
Overweight teens sometimes believe that they're the only victims of shaming by their parents. What some kids fail to realize is that those who are skinny can receive the same amount of criticism as their plus sized peers. The comments hurt just the same as a generation of teenagers are doing whatever they can to conform to the media's unrealistic standards of perfection. While parents are supposed to encourage and support their kids in their endeavors, thin teenagers admit that mothers and fathers they look up to have a number of negative things to say about their body image.

The nerve of some parents...

1
Came home and dad told me that I am too skinny to be alive

This isn't helpful for a child's mental growth.

2
My mom told me last night that she was embarrassed by me because I'm too skinny. I've been struggling with depression for 6 years, she made it worse.

Some fathers think they know best.

3
My dad just told me no strong guy with abs would ever want me because they're healthy and I'm too skinny.

So much for encouraging your child.

4
My mom just told me that I'm too skinny and that no guy will like me at the current weight I am.

We're beautiful in the skin we're in.

5
My dad told me " I'd be pretty if I wasn't so skinny."

There is no pleasing some parents.

6
My mom told me I was way too skinny so I started eating more. Now she tells me I should go to the gym because I'm getting fat.
