True Life: How My Partner Reacted When I Revealed I Was A Rape Survivor
The content below was sourced from real posts on the Whisper app, the largest online community where people anonymously share real thoughts and feelings. Join the community to continue the conversation today. Survivors of sexual assault know how hard it is to live with their trauma, let alone explain it to other people. Opening up about such a dark experience is painful and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, sometimes opening up about this type of trauma comes with unsolicited advice and blame. These survivors share their experiences with opening up to their partners about their past. These confessions prove that sometimes even our loved ones don't know what to say or do. Let these stories remind you to be kind to everyone, especially victims of abuse.

Support means everything.

I thought my fiancé would leave when I told him my ex boyfriend raped me last week. He’s staying and next to me in my therapy sessions as support. I am so lucky.

SO messed up.

My boyfriend just broke up with me because I wouldn’t have sex with him. And I told him I’m traumatized still from being raped.

You really don't need people like that in your life anyway.

My boyfriend left me because I told him I have been abused and raped by my previous ex. Now I have no confidence.

I was raped. My boyfriend didn't understand or believe me when I told him it was my guy friend....

Time to get a new boyfriend!

In high school I was raped.
My current boyfriend constantly grabs me down there as a joke and I told him it makes me uncomfortable. His response " it's just something I do without thinking"

Sounds like this is working for you both at least!

I think my boyfriend might be secretly asexual.
I told him I didn't want to have sex, like ever because I was raped 3 years ago. I've been with him for a year and he's never had a problem with it! :)
