Join the community to continue the conversation today. Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), is an eating disorder characterized by extremely selective eating habits, patterns or both. This condition sometimes appears s just someone being a picky eater, but it is truly the most extreme case of picky eating. Those with arfid sometimes limit themselves to only a handful of types of foods as well as having extreme reactions to certain textures of food. This lesser known eating disorder affects more people than you may realize. Their confessions reveal what life is really like when you're living with arfid.

I have ARFID (A voidant Restricted Food Intake Disorder) It’s so bad that when I think about the foods I don’t eat, it results in a panic attack.

I can't eat at restaurants or even subway anymore because nobody takes my food issues seriously. And if they do, they give me looks as if I killed their family. I can't help having ARFID.....

I have ARFID. An eating disorder that limits my diet cause of some foods texture, look, color, smell or taste.  My friends always say I'm so picky when I say I hate something. Sorry it's not my fault.
